Editorial policy

Our calculators and guides exist to help you understand home loans and make your own decision. This is how we build and write them.

Sources and dates

• Every calculator lists its assumptions and its sources. Where official rates are used, the page shows the date they apply from.
• Every guide lists its sources, with the date each one was last checked.
• We prefer official sources: regulators, government agencies, state revenue offices and the provider's own terms.
• Every guide shows when it was first published and when it was last updated.

What we do not do

• We do not recommend, rank or pick products or providers, and we do not quote for any product.
• We do not ask for, store or pass on personal details.
• We do not let partners review or approve what we write.

Money and independence

We have no referral or affiliate partners, and no lender or broker pays us. See our general information notice.

Corrections

If we find a mistake we fix it, update the date and, where the change matters, say what changed. Corrections by post can be sent to the address on our About page.
